FAQ

Is GigThreader a job board?

Yes, but unlike traditional job boards, it's a job board you build for yourself. GigThreader helps you find projects in motion, reach out to them, and track your progress. It can host your creative portfolio, and enable you to quickly build bespoke pitches. And it can help you identify and keep in touch with the people in your network.

How do creatives find work in film, TV and games?

The truth is that most jobs are never posted. A film holds a casting call, a television pilot gets picked up, a game studio gets funding, a director's last project wins a festival. Creative professionals either have agents scouring the trades for them, or hear from the decision makers directly. They then usually pitch with a portfolio built for that project, and the top picks get a meeting. In a sense, GigThreader acts as your personal talent agent, helping you find the projects you want, at your level, that you'd otherwise never know existed.

Who is GigThreader for?

Freelance creatives working in film, television and games: composers, editors, cinematographers, sound designers, VFX and animation artists, game developers, and more. Each role has its own search profile, so a composer sees projects at the stage a composer gets hired and an editor sees them at the stage an editor does.

How does GigThreader use AI, and what doesn't it do?

AI only does the research. It never touches your content, and it never generates any content for you. It scans trades, listings, social media posts and announcements for projects that might be a good match for your skills and career goals. If you think a gig might be a good match, you can task it to find more information (called sources) and read those sources to extract helpful information for you. Every potential gig cites its sources, so you can check it before you act on it.

What does GigThreader cost?

While GigThreader will ultimately be a subscription-based service, all of its tools are currently free while in open beta. Once we launch, your account will be converted to a free trial. Plans and pricing will be announced at launch, but we plan to be competitive with services like ReelCrafter and Squarespace.

Can it replace my website?

Yes it can. Our builder makes one-page portfolios for a single pitch or a full, tabbed website on your own domain. And regardless of where you host your portfolio, you can always use GigThreader for the search and the outreach.

How is GigThreader different from a portfolio site like ReelCrafter?

A portfolio site hosts your work and waits for someone to find it. GigThreader also finds the work: the AI search, the contact research and the outreach log are the core of it, and the portfolio builder is there so every pitch has the right reel attached.
