How credits work
What credits are, what they're spent on, and how to top up.
Credits are how GigThreader meters its AI-powered features. Every time you ask the AI to search, read, or look something up on your behalf, that action costs credits — and the price is always shown on the button before you click, so there are no surprises.
The short version
Almost every AI action costs 1 credit, though there are exceptions. For example, a Discover search costs 2 credits, because it plans multiple web searches and reads many sources in a single run.
In Discover
- Running a search — 2 credits. Charged only when Discover actually searches the web.
- Everything else is free: refining in chat, asking questions about results, reviewing filtered-out leads, recalling pinned or recent searches. The interface tells you before anything will trigger a new (paid) search.
In the Gigs tab
- Import a gig from a URL or pasted text — 1 credit. Reads the article, builds the gig, and includes the director and crew it names as basic contacts. Both forms also offer Add Lead + Contact Details — 2 credits, which additionally digs up those people's emails and socials in the same pass. You're only charged if the import succeeds — an unreadable page or a dead end costs nothing. (IMDb links import for 1 credit via structured movie data instead of AI.)
- Import from CSV — free. Spreadsheet imports are parsed right on your device; no AI involved, no charge.
- Find Sources — 1 credit. Surfaces recent news articles and press coverage about the project.
- Find Contacts — 1 credit. Discovers directors, producers, music supervisors, and other key people attached to the production.
- Enrich a source — 1 credit. Reads a saved article into the gig — fills fields, surfaces contacts — with your review before anything lands.
- Enrich a contact — 1 credit per contact. Pulls their website, email, socials, IMDb. Enrich All costs 1 credit per contact enriched, so the button shows the total.
- Manual adds are free — typing in a gig, a source link, or a contact yourself never costs anything.
In the Profile tab
- Find Credits — 1 credit. Auto-discovers your film/TV credits from your name or website.
- Find My Socials — 1 credit. Looks up your Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and other profiles in one pass.
- Find My Platforms — 1 credit. Looks up your role-specific platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, Bandcamp, Vimeo Showcase, etc.) in one pass.
What's always free
Everything that isn't an AI lookup: building and publishing portfolios, uploading and managing your library, browsing and organizing your gigs, CSV imports, manual adds, logging reach-outs, sending email through your connected Gmail, pitch-link tracking and analytics, and your Network check-ins. Credits are exclusively for AI searches and lookups.
How many credits you get
During the beta, every member gets 100 credits per month. When paid plans launch, each plan will come with its own monthly credit allotment, plus the option to top up if you run dry mid-month.
If something goes wrong
Credits are only charged for work actually delivered — a failed import, an unreadable page, or an API error costs nothing. (One honest edge: if you pay for a contacts pass and the article genuinely names no one, the search still ran and still costs — that's the nature of looking.) If you ever believe you were charged for a failed action, use Send Feedback in the account menu and we'll make it right.
