The "Reach-Outs" Tab
How outreach threads work — logging interactions, follow-up dates, sending email, and pitch links that tell you when someone opened your portfolio.
Reach Outs is where your outreach lives: one thread per person, every interaction logged, and a follow-up date that makes sure nothing slips. The red badge on the tab is the count of threads waiting on you.
Starting a thread
Outreach starts from a contact — hit Reach out on a contact in a gig, and a compose panel opens at the top of Reach Outs. Nothing is saved until you actually do something: log the interaction or send the email. Cancel and you're back where you started, no empty shell left behind.
Every interaction records:
- Channel — ✉ Email, 📞 Phone, 🤝 In-Person, 💬 DM, 🎬 Meeting, or ✏ Other.
- Title (optional) — a short label that shows in the history, like "Sent reel + intro".
- Note (optional) — what you said, context to remember.
Follow-up dates — the engine of the tab
Each logged interaction sets a follow-up date (7 days by default; edit it on any thread via the ⋮ menu). The thread's pill tells you where it stands: Overdue (red), Follow up today, or Scheduled. The list sorts by urgency — overdue first — and the sidebar splits Needs Follow-up from Sent (scheduled and waiting). Your Home dashboard surfaces the overdue and due-soon threads too, so the tab works even when you're not looking at it.
When it's time, open the thread and Log Interaction — same form, and the follow-up clock resets. The full history stays on the card, latest highlighted.
Sending email from GigThreader
If you've connected Gmail (in Setup), Draft Email sends directly from your own Gmail address — replies land in your normal inbox, and follow-ups thread onto the same conversation. There's a daily cap of 100 emails, which is a spam-hygiene guardrail, not a target: this tool is built for researched, personal outreach, not blasts. No Gmail connected? The Mail button opens your mail app, or Copy grabs the text.
Pitch links — know when your portfolio gets opened
The most valuable part of an email is the link to your work, so GigThreader makes those links trackable. When you attach a portfolio to a reach-out, it gets its own unique link — and the thread's Engagement section then shows exactly what happened: "👁 3 opens · last on Jul 8" or the honest "Pitch link sent — not opened yet."
- Analytics on each link shows per-open detail — device, rough location, and whether it's a repeat visitor (a very good sign).
- You'll also get an email notification when someone opens a link, including on return visits. Each link has a toggle if you'd rather not.
- Deleting a link kills it — the URL stops working and its view history goes with it. Do this if a link leaked somewhere you didn't intend.
Because each reach-out gets its own link, you know who opened your portfolio — not just that someone did.
Check-ins vs. project threads
Reach Outs holds two kinds of thread that look similar but behave differently:
- Project threads come from a gig contact and are about a specific project. Their card links back to the gig (Gig ↗), and when the project ends you Archive the thread.
- Check-in threads come from your Network tab — the people you keep in touch with regardless of any project. Their cadence ("Next check-in") comes from the person's settings in Network, and instead of archiving you Pause/Resume — relationships don't end, they just go quiet for a while.
Archiving a gig automatically sets its threads aside too — they reappear if you restore the gig.
